"The sensations that colours produce in me are pure spiritual experiences" Kandinsky.
For me, painting has always been a means of expressing the fluctuations of my heart and soul. I started painting to express my love , I painted and gave birth to a beautiful child,I painted to express the beauty of the sea, the song of the wind in the trees.
When I work, I represent nature in the most expressive and intense manner possible, I usually just outline the composition and start directly with my colors . Painting for me is an instinctive, raw, joyful process, hence the frequent use of yellow orange red colors.I spend some time looking until I know it is time to start and I do it now.
Brought up in Brittany by the Atlantic ocean, I then lived for 25 years in the South of France on the mediterranean coast, where the Spanish side of my family had settled before I was born.I lived amongst the olive trees and the smell of the heat at night.I moved to UK in 2006 . Today I am the co manager of the Ashdown gallery and share my time between painting and working at the gallery.
My work is strongly influenced by these contrasting cultures and landscapes, the reds of Spain and greens of Scotland, the moving beauty of the sea in Brittany, the colors of the south of France.
I have studied and learnt drawing and painting with Elizabeth Raymond a French painter , from the Paris " Beaux Arts" , who runs an Art School in the south of France. I decided to become a full time painter in 2006.
Since then, I have experimented the textures and colors on my own and followed my own artistic path .
I now paint semi abstract landscapes and seacsapes either with brushes or knives .
My aim today is to be able to paint as much as I can , experiment materials and textures wherever I find myself in the world and celebrate the beauty of nature.
